About me: My name is Nicole, and I'm a full-time professional who loves sewing as a way to relax and unwind. I just turned thirty (eek!), and my husband and I moved from Manhattan to South Florida last month. I recently started the local chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild (we're calling it South Florida Mod), and it's been a blast getting to know other quilting folks online and in person. I recently had a pattern published in the new Modern Blocks book, and I am so honored to be a part of the new One Yard Wonders book.
Book backstory: In Spring of 2010, I saw a request for pattern submissions. I tried to create a project that would be fun, easy and functional. My husband and I were about to take our official honeymoon to Italy, so a travel-related project was perfect!
I drew up a few patterns and originally made the project in oilcloth, which was waterproof and colorful. Here are the photos from my submission packet:

The editors accepted my submission! They sent me beautiful Echino helicopter fabric and added a few related items from other contributors. The project is great for making quick gifts for family/friends who like to travel or are going on vacation. The finished project is on page 127 of the book and is called "The Jet Set." I hope to get photos of the actual book page in the next few days. :) Here is the fabric, in the meantime:
To celebrate the release of the book, Storey Publishers has generously offered to give a free book to one of my lucky readers!
Prize: One hardcover book of "Fabric by Fabric: One Yard Wonders."
Entry Deadline: Friday, December 23rd at 9:00pm (Eastern time).
